A few pics of spring time greenery. A much longed for change from the dreary cold winter. I know, I get no simpathy from you northerners but still….. 🙂
This Pineapple Guava had no problem with the Zone 8 winter. I am curious to see what kind of growth this little guy put out.
This Flora-Home Pear is really putting on the fruit. i planted it last season so so this is the first fruit we will get off it.
The reliable Canna Lilis came back with a vigor. Did you know you can eat these tropical beauties? Canna tubers can be eaten like potatoes. The leaves can be used like banana leaves to wrap and cook foods. The new shoots are kinda like asparagus! The flowers however, are just for look’in at!
I was really surprised to see these 3 Banana Pups after multiple hard freezes to this year. I heavily mulched to protect them. I believe this is the Raja Puri variety. No life yet out of the Dwarf Cavendish. I am still hopeful.
These are the seedlings we started a few weeks ago. See the prior post about seedlings to see the setup.
A few tree cuttings of various varieties growing out. These cone shaped trays work great for getting deep roots started.
